Japanese Restorative Massage
Japanese restorative therapy is a deep tissue style of massage
which uses acupressure points to promote healing and balance
the body’s energy. The massage itself is done by using
the forearm and the elbow in a rocking motion. The therapist
generally focuses on stimulating the various pressure points
of the body along the major energy flow lines. This is done to
stimulate and restore the flow of the universal life force, or ‘Chi’,
throughout the body. The technique releases built-up toxins in
the muscles allowing the body to cleanse and rebuild to a stronger
and healthier state.
Japanese Restorative Massage follows a series of well-defined
steps that ensure that all the meridians are activated and energy
blockages removed. Professor Henry S. Okazaki developed this
style of therapy as a prerequisite for a jujitsu martial artist
to receive the 2nd degree black belt, using the concepts of Japanese
restorative therapy, herbology, reflexology, massage, shiatsu,
lomi lomi, and acupressure.
